Ive never been somebody to knock Terry Collins' moves as a manager. Its clearly obvious that he is a manager that motivates players and can get them to play under pressure, and play very tough at that. After watching the offense click against the Cubs and and the first game against the Marlins, i sit here, watching the Amazins lose 5-1 to the Marlins and some questions arise in my mind.
Now, of course i write this in only the 8th inning so maybe another comeback will be in the works, but thats beyond the point. But, now to my point what the hell goes through Terry Collins' brain? During the Cubs series we were putting up runs like no tomorrow, maybe because we finally got tired of being embarrassed, or because the defending NL Champs had a bone to pick with the team that is being crowned a team for the ages and the favorites in the National League.
But my biggest gripe is these lineups. Im over the whole "we have no offense" excuse, and i know that some days the offense just wont be there but why does it seem that Terry has a new lineup every day? I think these players need some consistency, ive always felt that baseball was a game of consistency and timing. So why do our lineups have no consistency?
Why isn't Brandon Nimmo batting leadoff instead of Granderson? Why is Wilmer Flores batting cleanup when weve won 5 in a row with Loney as our cleanup hitter? Travis d'Arnaud is also not an 8th hitter in my opinion BUT i like the idea of him being 8th with our lineup being a little thin, it adds some pop to the bottom of our order. Its also obvious that Reyes being in the lineup means we have to have some changes, and i also understand players need days off here and there.
I also know that baseball has a very long season thats nearly identical to a metaphorical rollercoaster ride with the amounts of ups, downs, twists and turns but i really feel we need some legitiment consistent lineups. Someone needs to tell Terry to not make these crazy changes with the offense going berzerk the way they just were.
It just seemed like everything was going so well after the comeback against the Marlins, i saw emotions all over the field and this team needs that, we need fire and passion. We need players to get loud and pumped up scoring a game tying run. We also need some consistency. Come on Terry! #LGM
